Using Amaro in your Manhattan is a seriously delicious way to mix things up

The Black Manhattan starts with a strong base of bourbon

Any solid mixing bourbon will work great. A high proof option is great like Old Grandad Bonded or Wild Turkey 101

Next we need Amaro

what is amaro?

it's an Italian liqueur made with all sorts of herbs and spices with a rich dark sweetness. It pairs great with whiskey

Stir in a mixing glass and strain into a chilled glass

This gives you a bright orange smell with every sip

Garnish with an orange twist

The original recipe calls for Amaro Averna, but just like vermouth, each Amaro has its own unique flavors!

Try experimenting!

Cheers!
